Regional Sr. IT/HHR Technician (NE Wyoming Region)

JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Information Technology and Historic Horse Racing Technician supports all technologies and functionality in place at Off Track Betting (OTB) locations, including but not limited to desktop computer, computer peripherals, monitors, printers, photocopiers, scanners, network switches, wireless antennas, Electronic Gaming Machine (EGM) hardware & software, point of sale terminals, televisions, AV encoders/decoders, speakers, amplifiers, microphones, telephones, surveillance cameras, surveillance network video recorders, ticket redemption kiosks, parimutuel teller stations/kiosks.  Travel required within the region.  Motor Vehicle Report must meet qualifications for driving as required by the insurance carrier.

SCOPE: The Sr. IT & HHR Technician possesses the ability to problem solve and demonstrate good judgement and communication skills while engaging with Team Members, guests, and vendors.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understands the principles, best practices and troubleshooting techniques of ethernet computer networking and experienced in interconnecting network switches and end devices in a reliable and secure manner.
  • Follows and adheres to all directions and standards established by IT and HHR department leadership.
  • Responds in-person to OTB locations for technology issues when not immediately remedied remotely.
  • Trains team members and other end-users in the proper operation of technologies.
  • Evaluates operating procedures, recommends changes, and implements changes approved by the IT or Gaming Director.
  • Maintains files for invoices and other documentation related to gaming maintenance, repairs, and purchases.
  • Coordinates and performs EGM additions, removals, changes and relocations.
  • Troubleshoots and manages network connectivity to all end user devices.

 

 

 

  • Is familiar with the set up and programming of all gaming devices, player tracking systems, and gaming accounting systems.
  • Ensures all minor and major repairs on Gaming Machines, scheduled and un- scheduled occur in a timely manner.
  • Oversees the preventive maintenance program to ensure maximum machine performance.
  • Provides leadership and oversight to all aspects of machine conversions and relocations to include player tracking and networking.
  • Is knowledgeable and current on all technical data relative to HHR gaming devices, progressive and media hardware and software, and all components therein including but not limited to, bill validators, ticket printers, card readers, monitors, power supplies etc.
  • Is thoroughly familiar with OSHA safety codes to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Ensures Safety Data Sheets are properly maintained as they relate to the Gaming Department.
  • Performs routine and advanced Gaming Terminal maintenance, including but not limited to working the Gaming floor and responding to guest opportunities and floor calls.
  • Possesses a thorough knowledge of the player tracking system
  • Attends to bill or voucher jams or other failures of the terminals.
  • Ensures that any work done meets with the manufacturer’s minimum requirements. This includes the assembling and disassembling of equipment in strict accordance with diagrams and manuals.
  • Examines all gaming related equipment for evidence of tampering and mechanical malfunctions.
  • Responsible and accountable to comply with all key control policies/procedures.
  • Accurately record problems or situations at the terminals, in terms of repairs, maintenance and spare stock levels.
  • Conduct periodic stock checks of spare parts and components for terminals and auxiliary equipment.
  • Provides great customer service to guests and ensure their complete satisfaction, inclusive of greeting and interacting with guests in a friendly and enthusiastic manner, anticipating and meeting guest needs and preferences, remaining calm and professional when dealing with guests that are difficult or upset.
  • The ability to develop and maintain professional, trusting, and positive working 

relationships with managers, supervisors, staff, coworkers, guests, and vendors.

  • The ability to work safely. This includes clearly understanding and following company safety policies and procedures, completing work in a safe manner, caring about safety of self and others, responding appropriately in an emergency, and reporting unsafe conditions.

  • Assist with training/mentoring of new team members as requested.

  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision or as part of a team is required.

KEY SUCCESS INDICATORS: Ensures the Gaming and IT Team maintains high standards of workmanship while carrying out the job responsibilities of the position. Effectively communicates with guests, Team Members, and management in a professional manner both verbally and written.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years experience in a role handling and troubleshooting of electronics.  Alternatively, may substitute certifications, degrees or other higher education achievements in technical disciplines.
  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Outlook)
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Capable of handling, moving and installing EGM’s and other equipment using hand trucks and pallet jacks, sometimes weighing several hundred pounds, oddly shaped and/or odd center of gravity.
  • Capable of operating common features of a commercial box truck including powered liftgates, retractable loading ramps and securing straps.
  • Capable of using ladders in the process of installing and servicing ceiling attachments, including but not limited to surveillance cameras, wireless access points, microphone antennas and speakers.
  • Must pass all required pre-screening and background checks included acceptable motor vehicle report.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, this includes day, swing, late-night, weekend, and holiday shifts as scheduled.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Wyoming gaming license.

  • Must be able to work in environment where smoking is permitted and can be loud with guest chatter, overhead music, and live entertainment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds with or without assistance, up to 350 pounds using material handling equipment such as a hydraulic lift or hand truck and respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Requires the ability to distinguish letters or symbols and eye hand coordination.
